On April 11, 2024, a meeting took place between the rector of Comrat State University Serghei Zaharia and representatives of the Swedish Embassy Pernilla Nordvall, Axel Lundell, Tatiana Lungu,  and the representative of CMI - Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation, Natalia Djandjgava. The collaboration between the University and the project implemented by CMI, “Gagauzia Dialogue”, started in 2019. Within the framework of this partnership, two successful autumn academies on topics related to autonomies, decentralization, multilingual education, as well as a series of public lectures with the involvement of international experts have been organized.

At the meeting, prospects for future collaboration and plans for joint projects were also discussed.

CMI is a Finnish international organisation working in the field of conflict prevention and resolution through dialogue and mediation. Nobel Peace Prize laureate and former President of Finland, Martti Ahtisaari, founded the CMI in 2000. Since then, the organisation has grown to become a leader in international peacekeeping.

In the Republic of Moldova, the project is implemented by CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Foundation with the support of Sweden. As part of the project, CMI facilitates informal dialogue on the platform of the Parliamentary Working Group on Gagauzia. To strengthen the dialogue process, the project brings together legislators, experts, and stakeholders from Chisinau, Comrat, and other parts of the country to identify common solutions to shared issues concerning Gagauzia.
