Postu I.

The Department was founded in 2003 by dividing the Department of "Jurisprudence" into the Departments "Criminal Law" and "Civil Law". The title of the Department "Criminal Law" was renamed to "Public Law" by the decision of the Senate of CSU in 2009 .

Over the years Ph.D. Associate Professors: A. Baurciulu, V. Guzun, C. Fedorov, L. Izhytsky, V. Lebedev, Iu. Tiutechin, G. Shinnic, Senior Lecturers: I. Nedialcov, N. Iavorschi, N. Chisseev - Honored Lawyer, ex-judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova, V. Popa - Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova invested significant work in the formation of the Department.

Nowadays the Department conducts scientific work and research in the field of criminal, criminal procedure, penitentiary, constitutional and administrative legislation.

A significant methodological arsenal has been accumulated and developed during the period of work at the Department: on the course "Criminal Procedure Law" a textbook authored by N. Chisseev; on the course "Constitutional Law of Foreign Countries" a textbook authored by A. Baurciulu and V. Ivanov; on the course "Criminalistics" a textbook authored by M. Birgau; on the course "Financial Law" the textbook "Financial Law in Schemes" by G. Sult, I. Ianac, N/ Jecov; on the course “Executive Law” the textbook "Legal Status of Convicts in the Republic of Moldova" by V. Morar, G. Sult, S. Mironova, and the monograph "Preparation for Release and Resocialization of Prisoners Sentenced to Imprisonment" by G. Sult and etc..

The lecturers of the Department actively publish the results of their research in international scientific publications of the near and far abroad, in the materials of international and republican conferences.

The Department of Public Law is a graduating one in the specialties of Law and Public Administration. During its work several issues of full-time and part-time education have been produced. Since September 01, 2007, the Master's Program (II Cycle of Higher Education) has been opened at the Department in the following areas of training:

42. Law, specializations "Criminal Law" for specialized specialties, "Legal Aspects of the European Neighborhood Policy and Good Governance" and "Corporate Law" - for non-core specialties;
43. Political Sciences, specialization "Local Public Administration" for specialized specialties, where graduates of Universities can continue their postgraduate studies and receive the title "Master of Law".

For scientific, educational, methodological and educational work the Department occupies a leading position in the ranking of University Departments. Numerous fundamental and grant research carried out by the Faculty of the Department allow actively attracting undergraduates to scientific work.

To achieve the set goals the Department actively maintains close ties with various educational institutions both from the Republic of Moldova and foreign ones, and also develops cooperation with European Universities.

The process of training future specialists at the Department is enough mobile, it allows students to find employment in the Prosecution, Court, Appeal Chamber, Advocacy, Justice, Police as well as in Public Administration:

        Due to the great demand for our graduates they have no problems with employment.
