Two groups of students, studying English for their specialty, AN-20 and RA-20, have organized an unusual national celebration called Kasym or St. Dmitriy’s Day. The event took place on the 8th of November, 2022.
Students have worked hard over the project. They have searched information about the history of the holiday, Kasym customs and traditions. Olga Cusursuz made an interesting presentation about St. Dmitriy, Curdoglo Ivanna and Babova Maria prepared a vivid video about Kasym legend, Uzun Aliona did her best in preparing a wonderful presentation about Kasym traditions, facts from the history of this great Gagauzian holiday. Constantinov Vitaliy was an excellent presenter of the event. He was very skillful in giving the floor to each participant.
The most important thing of this event is the fact that students stepped into the translator’s shoes and rendered all information in English. They say it was very useful for them, informative and interesting. Students added that it is very important to celebrate Gagauzian holidays in English because it develops love of your motherland and gives opportunity to practice translation skills.
