Lithuanian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Tadas Valionis and NATO Eastern Partnership Head Tania Hartman held a meeting with students at the Comrat State University, dedicated to the aspects of Moldova's integration into the European Union and the importance of strengthening sustainability and national security

Lithuanian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Tadas Valionis and NATO Eastern Partnership Head Tania Hartman held a public lecture for the students of the Comrat State University. In a warm and friendly atmosphere, the students discussed with the guests various topics related to national and regional security, European integration of the Republic of Moldova and support of its partners in this direction. The speakers noted that, in order to develop a culture of security in the Moldovan society, which is a fundamental condition for the development of any country, besides the efforts of the state structures, the contribution of the civil society is important, but also of each of us. And the least that each of us can do in this respect is to develop critical thinking. Lithuanian Ambassador to Moldova Tadas Valionis spoke about how the life in Lithuania has changed for the better after the EU accession: the growth of pensions and incomes, improvement of infrastructure, open borders. He believes that the Moldovan authorities have a double task: to work honestly and to implement reforms efficiently. Among the questions, the experts, together with the students, addressed the issues of disinformation, the functioning of such international structure as the North Atlantic Alliance, as well as the advantages of the long-standing cooperation between Moldova and NATO, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Also, the students from the Comrat State University participated in the Quiz, answering the quiz questions and showing good preparation and knowledge in the field of international security, as well as in the historical chronology of Moldova's interconnection with the international security institutions. The most active participants of the dialog received small gifts from the Lithuanian Embassy and the NATO Liaison Office in the Republic of Moldova. Lithuanian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Tadas Valionis noted that there are many parallels in the history of Lithuania and the Republic of Moldova, as well as the fact that Moldova was the first to recognize Lithuania's independence. This happened on May 31, 1990.
