Alumni Messenger - U.S. Embassy

Dear Exchange Alumni,

We hope you are starting to feel like you are back in the grove. It is the time of the year that you need to stay positive. Be willing to do the work needed to improve in all areas of you life. We have opportunities to help you do so.

The United States has been a generous and reliable partner for the Republic of Moldova since independence in 1991. Learn more about US assistance to Moldova at: www.sua.md

Unforgettable experience – that’s how I call the 2019’s summer. I am Elena Bîrca and I am Alumna of Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI)
for Student Leaders from Europe program.
This program represents a unique academic experience. During 5 weeks I had the chance to learn about Civic Engagement Institute and to make a critical comparison between how it works in U.S.A. and as it seems to be in Moldova. The conclusion is one – Moldova as nation is like a teenager, needs a lot of experiences and it could be obtained through common work and effort.

This experience had a big impact on me, personally I became more confident and I realized how important it is to make a difference, to make your duty as citizen and contribute for development of your community. I started to do it ever since I was 16 years old, being always an active volunteer and pro-active citizen. And that’s why in future I will guide myself to work in the non-governmental area, trying to do my best and bring innovation and contribute to the prosperity of my country.

At the end, I would like to say that USG Alumni represents a perfect network that could bring that common work and effort I aforementioned to make our Moldova enough mature to be able to keep its “children” at home.
