On the eve of the wonderful spring holiday of Easter, on April 15, 2025, the Department of Foreign Languages of Comrat State University held an event in English entitled “Easter in Moldova and in English-speaking countries of the World”. This lesson, aimed at broadening the horizons and developing linguistic language competencies of second-year students of groups AN-23 and RA-23, as well as forming a respectful attitude towards the customs and traditions of Moldova and the cultural values of the peoples of other countries, contributed to the enrichment of vocabulary on the topic. Easter is a holiday of victory over death. The word “Easter” comes from the Hebrew “pesah”, which means “to step over” or “to go over”, “to pass by”.

The lesson began with an introductory speech made by the lecturer of the Department of Foreign Languages Nicolaeva P.D., after which it continued with presentations made by Songrova Alla, Lopushnyan Olga, Bilgin Su in collaboration with Özkan Ismet and Özpala Mehmet, as well as Komur Ivanna in collaboration with Boykova Varvara. These students introduced everyone to the history, traditions and symbols of this ancient and most important Christian holiday, listed the similarities and differences of Easter traditions in Moldova and in two English-speaking countries of the world, and they also spoke about the celebration of Easter in their families.

During the lesson, students were offered tasks to consolidate vocabulary and learn new information. Tabunshchik Diana and Nedioglo Anna asked the participants to compose a coherent text about Easter based on six Easter pictures. Tucan Margarita presented a crossword puzzle based on Easter symbols. All participants easily guessed the Easter symbols. Then, Lyudmila Nedioglo and Olesya Rusnak organized two thematic tests for the participants. The first test involved choosing the correct answer from four suggested ones, and the second offered an answer to a question that had to be answered "True" or "False". Aliona Kirchioglo set a task that involved selecting words on the topic of Easter that would begin with certain letters. Xenia Komur encouraged the participants to solve a thematic crossword puzzle and also suggested choosing a translation for the words on the topic. The event ended with a task from Elena Kyulafly, who suggested arranging the letters in order in words to get thematic words.

It should be mentioned that this lesson dedicated to Easter in English was successful and the students really liked it. They received a lot of positive emotions and the opportunity to improve their knowledge of English.
