Today, with the introduction of new educational standards, holding Olympiads is becoming an integral part of education. The Olympiad in a foreign language is a serious test of knowledge in a competitive environment, an exam for endurance and, of course, the will to win. It creates an atmosphere of optimism and increases students’ faith in their strengths, capabilities and abilities. It has become a tradition at the Department of Foreign Languages of Comrat Sate University to hold an English Olympiad for first-cycle students whose specialty is English.
On March 29, 2023, the English Language Olympiad was held, which has already become a good tradition of the Department of Foreign Languages. The participants of the Olympiad were first-year students studying in groups AN-22 and RE-22. The goals and objectives of the Olympiad were as follows:
- Improving students’ motivation to learn English.
- Increasing interest in learning English and broadening the horizons of students.
- Identification of the most prepared students with special abilities and inclinations.
- Improving the quality of teaching English at Comrat Sate University.
The Olympiad included 5 rubrics: Reading, Usage, Grammar, Country Study, Listening.
The Olympiad was held successfully, in a calm, quiet atmosphere. All students worked hard. We express our great gratitude to all participants of the Olympiad! We congratulate the students who took part in the competition! Well done! The Department of Foreign Languages is proud of you!
