Scientific-practical conference for history teachers from lyceums of ATU Gagauzia on the implementation of the optional discipline "Totalitarian Communist regime: repression and resistance movement"

On April 20, 2024, the Association of Former Deportees and Politically Repressed of the Republic of Moldova, in partnership with the Museum of History of Avdarma, the National Museum of History - section of the Museum of the Repressed of the Republic of Moldova, the Institute of History of the State University, the Department of Education of Аutonomous territorial entity Gagauzia, Comrat State University, organized a scientific-practical conference for teachers of schools from ATЕ Gagauzia on the theme Teaching the optional discipline for 9th, 12th grades "Totalitarian Communist regime: repression and resistance movement". The event was attended by university professors, scientific researchers, librarians, school teachers and museums from the Republic of Moldova and ATЕ Gagauzia.

The conference was timed to the Day of Remembrance of the victims of the 1946-1947 famine in Moldova, which was established by the Decision of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova on the third Saturday of April and this year fell on April 20. In Gagauzia, the People's Assembly also approved the date of the Day of Remembrance of the victims of the 1946-1947 famine. October 19.

The reports were made by: the founder of the museum from Avdarma village I.M.Kazmaly, the President of the Association of the former deportees and politically repressed from Moldova A.Postica, dr. of historical sciences, Prof. V.Birladeanu, dr. of history, political scientist A. Tsaranu, politician, ex-Minister of Defense of Moldova, Academician V.Pasat, Rector of Comrat State University, Dr. Assoc. Professor S.C.Zaharia, Dr. Assoc. Professor P.M. Pashaly, Member of the Parliament of Moldova V.Shoimaru, Dr. Assoc. Professor S.Corlateanu, specialists from the Department of Education of Gagauzia.

 The speakers emphasized how important it is to tell young people about the difficult, tragic pages of the history of our country and region, to conduct educational activities in the institutions of Gagauzia, lyceums and gymnasiums during the history lessons, how to convey information to the students.

Rector of CSU, Doctor of History S.K.Zaharia noted that "in the presented documents we saw many deported families, we should talk about it, first of all, with young people and learn lessons so that such tragic events in the history of our people would never be repeated". He also thanked those present and the museum of Avdarma village for organizing such an important event.  He congratulated the museum on the high evaluation of its activity, as out of 83 points, the museum scored all 83. This is a colossal work and it is an achievement not only for the Gagauz, but also for the Moldovan people. The main merit in this is I.M.Kazmaly.

At the event, the descendants of the deported families made speeches and shared their memories.

The conference participants laid flowers at the Memorial to the victims of the 1946-1947 famine in Avdarma village, ATE Gagauzia.

After the conference, the participants received a number of books and methodological aids on the topic of the conference.
