The launch event of Phase II of the "REFLECT - Quality Learning through the 'Peer-to-Peer' System" Project in the Republic of Moldova

Ms. Nadejda Velișco, Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Research of Republic of Moldova, met with representatives of the Zurich University of Teacher Education: Ms. Wiltrud Weidinger, Head of the Intercultural Teaching and Learning Center, Ms. Corinna Borer, Manager of International Education Projects, and Mr. Marin Dolința, Project Coordinator of "REFLECT" for the Republic of Moldova. During the meeting, Ms. Corinna Borer and Ms. Wiltrud Weidinger informed the Ministry officials about the launch event of Phase II of the "REFLECT - Quality Learning through the 'Peer-to-Peer' System" Project, which took place on February 21-22, 2023, at the Classroom of the Future, Ion Creangă State Pedagogical University in Chișinău. The project launch event and the training workshop were organized within the framework of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation's program "Promoting Active Civic Education" (FACE) in the Republic of Moldova, implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Research, the Council of Europe, and the United Nations Population Fund. Phase II of the "REFLECT" project, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in the Republic of Moldova and implemented by the Zurich University of Teacher Education - Department of International Education Projects, focuses on reciprocal learning and teaching among teachers, lecturers, school principals, and trainers. The "REFLECT" approach emphasizes reflection and professional development through evidence-based classroom observation and constructive feedback, representing a rethink of how to encourage and motivate target groups to promote their own development. The project aims to reconceptualize quality teaching and learning in the university pedagogical education space, connected to the motivational imperative for high-performance outcomes through professional competence development practices. The project, spanning four years, will engage key university personnel in assimilating and implementing effective pedagogical discourse in the curriculum context of postmodernity, within a university consortium comprising five higher education institutions in the Republic of Moldova (Ion Creangă State Pedagogical University in Chișinău, Moldova State University, Alecu Russo State University of Bălți, Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu State University of Cahul, and Comrat State University), with the assistance of Zurich University of Teacher Education. Ms. Nadejda Velișco, Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Research, expressed gratitude for the methodological support provided by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and Zurich University of Teacher Education, underscoring the importance for pedagogical education in the Republic of Moldova that such projects continue, expressing openness to collaboration in strategic directions for developing the education system in the Republic of Moldova. At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed readiness to identify new opportunities for cooperation and expand the bilateral partnership. To implement Phase II of the "REFLECT" project, the Ministry of Education and Research will sign a Memorandum of Cooperation with the partners of the "Promoting Active Civic Education" (FACE) Project in the Republic of Moldova, a document that will serve as the legal framework for activities conducted under the Project during the period 2023-2026.
