From November 25 to 29, 2024, an study visit to Deggendorf Technical University (THD) took place as part of the UPGRADE project - Enhancing Graduates' Employability Tracking in Moldova (Project number: 101129166), co-financed by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme. The study visit was attended by the teams of partner institutions, and namely: Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (ASEM), State University of Moldova (USM), the "Ion Creangă" State Pedagogical University (UPSC), State University "Alecu Russo" from Balti (USARB), State University "Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu" from Cahul (USC), State University from Comrat (KDU), Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova (MECRM), European Institute for Reform Initiatives and Education "Aspire" (ASPIRE) and University "1 Decembrie 1918" from Alba Iulia, Romania (UAB). Comrat State University was represented by the institutional coordinator of the project, Dr, Associate Professor Tatiana Racovchena and a member of the working team, Dr, Associate Professor Nadejda Ianioglo. Vice-President Prof. Dr. Marcus Herntrei and Vice-President Prof. Dr. Martina Heigl-Murauer addressed the partner universities with welcoming words. Vice-President Prof. Dr. Marcus Herntrei talked about the role of THD as a project partner and emphasized that the project is an important step toward creating a sustainable model that bridges academic education and the real needs of the labor market. Vice-President Prof. Dr. Martina Heigl-Murauer, in the course of dialogue with partners, highlighted the prospects of joint projects, student exchanges, and the creation of platforms for analyzing graduate employment data. During the study visit, participants also became familiar with the activities of several departments of Deggendorf Technical University, including:
- THD Alumni - The Alumni Center, responsible for maintaining connections with graduates, organizing events, and strengthening the community of former students.
- THD Centre for Continuing Education - A center offering a wide range of professional development and retraining programs.
- Career Service - A service providing dual study programs, professional support, assistance during studies, and counseling services to students.
- Bavarian Innovation Transformation Centre (BITZ) Oberschneiding - A Bavarian center for innovation transformation, showcasing key projects, including the nine-month "Silicon Valley Programme" and a transformation lab that turns academic discoveries into meaningful socio-economic innovations.
The study visit to Deggendorf Technical University (THD) was a unique opportunity for participants to explore advanced educational initiatives, strengthen international cooperation, and discuss ways to improve graduate employment tracking systems. The university's experience, its integrated approaches to education, student and graduate support, as well as innovation transfer, provided valuable insights for developing new strategies and implementing effective solutions in both educational and professional spheres.
