On March 6, 2025, right before the holiday of March 8th, an exciting lesson dedicated to International Women’s Day was held at the Department of Foreign Languages of Comrat State University. The lesson was held within the framework of the discipline “Practical Course in English”. Students of groups AN-24 and RA-24 prepared presentations, organized interactive games and quizzes, sharing interesting facts about the holiday.
The English Language Lecturer, Nicolaeva Prascovia Dmitrievna, was the first to give a presentation dedicated to March 8th. It was about the dearest and most important women in the life of every person - MOTHERS. The presentation had the motto dedicated to International Women’s Day, its history, as well as advice and recommendations on what you can give to your mothers, sisters, daughters and all ladies. During her speech, Prascovia Dmitrievna asked the participants questions to consolidate the information. The participants of the event were filled with deep gratitude to their mothers and realized how important it is to express their love and respect for them not only on holidays, but also every day.
Olga Crudu prepared a meaningful presentation on how this holiday came about. She said that International Women’s Day originated in the early 20th century as a day of women’s struggle for equal rights. Olga explained in details how the first rallies and speeches by women led to significant changes in society: improved working conditions, the right to education and participation in politics. The story was accompanied by interesting facts about the celebration of this day in different countries all over the world.
Deli Afina organized an exciting game “Who are you”, in which the participants had to guess which famous woman was depicted on their card. To do this, they were to ask questions to other players. Among the guessed personalities there were such outstanding women as Angelina Jolie, Marilyn Monroe, Cleopatra and others. The game aroused keen interest and a storm of positive emotions among the participants.
Yakimova Ruslana continued the historical theme, telling about great women who contributed to the development of society. Among them there were political and public figures, scientists. Her story inspired the participants and reminded that the contribution of women to world history cannot be underestimated.
Karaseni Vasilisa and Kambur Olga prepared an interactive quiz ”QUEZZ”, during which the participants answered questions related to the history of International Women’s Day. The questions concerned dates, significant events, famous women and traditions of celebration in different countries. At the end of the quiz, the participants who took the first three places received small surprises in the form of pens.
Novak Anastasia presented a presentation on the campaign “Women’s History Month”, which takes place in March in countries such as Great Britain, the USA and Australia. The presentation also featured famous women, such as Anne Frank, since the essence of the campaign is to learn something new about outstanding women every day. After that, she invited the students to play the game “Word Search: “Women in History”. At the end of her speech, Anastasia gave each girl a postcard and a motivating quote by a famous person. Esir Svetlana prepared the game “Find a Pair”, where the participants had to find the translation of words. This game helped to consolidate and expand the vocabulary in English.
Popa Svetlana prepared a thematic crossword puzzle that tested the participants’ knowledge of the holiday, its history, and famous women. The questions ranged from simple to complex, which made the game exciting and educational. This game not only tested the students’ knowledge, but also helped to consolidate the information.
Ekonom Olga supplemented the event with a presentation in which she summarized the main points regarding International Women’s Day. She recalled why this holiday is so important and how women around the world continue to fight for their rights and equal opportunities.
Kyryrzhik Tatyana prepared a video that included historical footage, inspiring quotes, and stories about the significance of International Women’s Day. After watching, the participants completed the exercise “Find the continuation of the sentence”, which helped them better remember the key points presented in the video.
Uzun Diana told how March 8 is celebrated in different parts of the world. Her presentation showed that in some countries this day is a day of struggle for women’s rights, while in others it is a day of honoring female beauty and tenderness.
Khristeva Domnika prepared a colorful poster, which presented the history of the holiday, famous women fighters for rights, as well as gift ideas for mothers, sisters and grandmothers. Her work not only decorated the event, but also became useful visual material.
Kulev Valentin organized another version of the “Quezz” quiz, in which participants had to choose the correct answers. This allowed them to test their knowledge of the women’s movement and the history of March 8 in a playful way.
The event turned out to be interesting, educational and inspiring. It allowed the participants to better understand the history of the holiday, remember great women of the past and present and realize the importance of gender equality. Thanks to the interactive format, the students not only listened to information, but also actively participated in the discussion and games.
This meeting reminded everyone that every woman is a source of strength, wisdom and inspiration, and International Womens’ Day is not just a holiday, but also a symbol of rebirth, love, achievement and respect.
