At Comrat State University, the USC Scientific Library organized library and information orientation sessions for first-year students

Every year at the beginning of the academic year, the Scientific Library of Comrat State University (CSU) organizes library and information orientation sessions for first-year students of all faculties. These sessions are of great importance as they are the first step toward students' successful mastery of academic knowledge and skills in handling scientific information. During these sessions, students were introduced to the Library Usage Rules, the diverse book collections, which include not only educational literature but also specialized periodicals related to their fields of study. Students were shown how to use the library's reference and bibliographic tools, which include traditional catalogs (alphabetical and systematic) and modern electronic search systems. Practical examples demonstrated the process of finding the necessary literature, helping students quickly adapt and confidently use the library's resources. Special attention was given to working with the electronic library of CSU faculty publications. Students learned how to locate scientific articles, monographs, and other materials created by university professors, allowing them to use unique resources in their academic and research activities. Additionally, participants were informed about access to international and national databases, providing opportunities to work with current and reliable sources of information. The librarians provided detailed instructions on how to register in these systems and use them effectively. An essential part of the session was explaining the rules for compiling bibliographic lists for coursework, thesis, and master’s projects, which is critical for academic integrity and high-quality presentation of research work. The material was presented through tours and the presentation "Scientific Library of CSU," making the learning process more visual and interactive. Students saw the library as a modern and open information center ready to support them throughout their studies. Such sessions play a crucial role in integrating first-year students into the academic environment. They not only familiarize students with the university's resources but also develop their skills in independent information search, critical analysis, and scientific approach to learning. Thus, orientation sessions contribute to a successful start to the educational process, laying the foundation for students' future success in their studies and research activities.
