Strengthening Academic Cooperation of Comrat State University: Internship at Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU)

From December 23 to 27, 2024, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Svetlana Ghenova from Comrat State University (CSU) participated in an Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Training (STT) program at Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) in the Republic of Turkey. This visit became an important step in strengthening international academic cooperation between the two institutions. During the visit, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Svetlana Ghenova had the opportunity to meet with OMU staff and learn about the university's initiatives in the field of international cooperation. The visit included presentations about CSU, the ATU Gagauzia, the Republic of Moldova, and OMU’s International Office, which shared valuable insights about the education system, research, and project activities at Turkish universities, as well as ongoing and future international projects at OMU. Discussions focused on expanding academic collaboration and increasing opportunities for joint work within international initiatives. OMU staff attended the meeting, including Prof. Dr. Mustafa Said Kurşunoglu, head of the International Department; Dr. Mehmet Tütündücü, deputy head of the department and Erasmus+ program coordinator; Dr. Ahmet Aycan, deputy head of the department and coordinator for international bilateral cooperation, along with other department staff. The discussions emphasized the potential for increasing student and faculty exchanges between the universities under the Erasmus+ program, as well as the importance of international projects for both parties. As part of the visit, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Svetlana Ghenova delivered open lectures on key topics at OMU's Faculty of Economics. Her lectures addressed “Lateral Marketing: Technologies for Finding New Ideas in the Wine Industry of the Republic of Moldova” and “The Republic of Moldova (Gagauzia ATU): Nation and Identity.” She also held meetings with Prof. Dr. Ebul Muhsin Doğan, Vice Dean, and Dr. Yörgür Özaydın, Dean of the Faculty of Economics at OMU, where they discussed prospects for further academic cooperation and exchange. The visit also included a meeting with Prof. Dr. Ayşe Pınar Sümer, Vice Rector of OMU, during which both sides confirmed their commitment to strengthening international cooperation. At the end of the activity, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Svetlana Ghenova was awarded the certificate of participation and the certificate for the open lectures, marking the successful completion of this important internship. As the sign of friendship and strengthening ties between the two universities, symbolic gifts were exchanged between OMU Administration and CSU's Rector Assoc. Prof., Dr. Serghei Zaharia and Dean of the Faculty of Economics at CSU Assoc. Prof., Dr. Liudmila Todorici, highlighting the commitment to further developing cooperation. This visit, within the framework of the Erasmus+ program, became an important milestone in OMU and CSU's internationalization strategy, opening prospects for future joint projects and collaboration. As part of the cultural program of the visit, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Svetlana Ghenova was able to explore various cultural monuments and natural landmarks in the city of Samsun, enriching the experience of her stay in the city. The city of Samsun played a significant role in the Turkish War of Independence in the early 20th century, as well as in the revolutionary changes that led to the founding of the Turkish Republic. In 1919, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk arrived in Samsun, marking the beginning of the Turkish national liberation movement.
