
On November 7, 2025, representatives of Comrat State University — students of the Faculty of Economics (Bachelor’s and Master’s levels), as well as staff of the Department of Economics, Dr. habil. in Economics, Prof. Alla Levitskaia, and Ph.D. in Economics, Assoc. Prof. Svetlana Curaxina — took part in the Forum on Sustainable Urban Development “Urban Development: Challenges, Solutions, Future”, organized by the Regional Development Agency of Gagauzia.
The forum focused on integrated urban development and the role of cities as growth poles in regional progress. Participants included representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, GIZ and Solidarity Fund PL projects, regional development agencies, municipalities, universities, and international organizations.
In the first panel, “Visions, Experiences, and Partnerships in Sustainable Urban Development for Growth Pole Cities,” Prof. Alla Levitskaia (Comrat State University) delivered a presentation entitled “Smart Investments, Smart Cities: How Business Shapes the Future of Cities.”
The session, moderated by Dmitri Croitor, also featured speakers: Marina Preteca-Neaga (ADR Centru), Serghei Anastasov (Mayor of Comrat), Lilia Plipețchi (Mayor of Soroca), Mtvarisa Luchian (National Tourism Office of Moldova), and Prof. Irina-Olimpia Susanu (University of Galați, Romania).
In her speech, Prof. Levitskaia Alla emphasized the importance of developing business support infrastructure, implementing innovative municipal solutions, and fostering cooperation between universities, business, and government authorities to enhance the competitiveness of cities and regions.
The participation of CSU representatives in such forums strengthens the university’s academic and professional partnerships with regional and national institutions and involves students in the sustainable and innovative development of Gagauzia.
