On November 7, 2025, the Agrarian-Technological Faculty of Comrat State University organized its traditional Round Table dedicated to Wine Day in Gagauzia (Gagauz şarap yortusu). The event brought together students, teachers, researchers, and industry specialists to discuss current issues in viticulture and winemaking, exchange knowledge and scientific achievements, and engage young people in research and development to support the growth of the regional wine industry. The Rector of CSU, Assoc., prof., PhD Serghei Zaharia, welcomed participants, highlighting the importance of preserving Gagauz winemaking traditions, thanking faculty and students for their active involvement in research, and emphasizing the value of such events for strengthening professional and research competencies of youth.
Topics discussed at the round table included:
- Modern approaches and innovations in viticulture;
- Development prospects for small and medium-sized wineries in the region;
- Importance of preserving and promoting local winemaking traditions;
- Opportunities for student involvement in research projects and scientific publications.
The event was moderated by Dean, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Assoc., prof., dr. Hab. Cara Serghei, who noted the high level of participant preparation and active exchange of ideas between students and industry specialists. The round table demonstrated how traditions and modern scientific approaches can harmoniously combine, fostering the development of Gagauzia’s winemaking potential and strengthening cooperation between the university, research centers, and regional enterprises. The event emphasized that winemaking is not only culture and tradition but also science, innovation, and the future of professional personnel in the region.
