
On May 4, 2026, the official opening ceremony of the 3rd International Staff Mobility Week, organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme, took place at Comrat State University. The international academic mobility week will be held from May 4 to May 8, 2026, bringing together representatives of higher education institutions from the Republic of Türkiye, academic staff, researchers, and education specialists.
The event gathered representatives from the following Turkish universities: Karabük University, Bartın University, Necmettin Erbakan University, Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University, Aksaray University, Pamukkale University, Kırklareli University, Trakya University, and Düzce University.
The honorary guests of the opening ceremony were Eda Güç, Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Comrat, and Ferhat Yılmaz, Education Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Chisinau.
The official opening began with a welcome speech delivered by the Rector of Comrat State University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serghei Zaharia. In his speech, the Rector emphasized the importance of developing international cooperation, academic mobility, and strengthening partnership relations between the universities of Moldova and Türkiye. He highlighted that such events create favorable conditions for the exchange of experience, scientific cooperation, and the implementation of joint educational initiatives, while also contributing to the preservation and promotion of the Gagauz language and culture within the international academic environment.
Following the welcoming speeches, a scientific and cultural programme was held. Prof. Dr. Bülent Hünerli from Kırklareli University delivered a presentation entitled “Gagauz Türkçesinin Güncel Sorunları ve Gelecek Perspektifleri”, dedicated to the current issues of the Gagauz language and the prospects for its preservation and future development. The presentation addressed topics such as linguistic identity, the role of education in language preservation, and the necessity of expanding scientific research and educational projects aimed at supporting the Gagauz language.
Additionally, the opening ceremony featured the presentation “Yunanistan Gagauzlarının Güncel Durumu” and the musical performance “Yunanistan Gagauzlarında Türküler”, prepared by Evrim Kaşıkçı from Trakya University. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the current situation of the Gagauz people in Greece, their cultural traditions, and musical heritage, which attracted considerable interest among attendees.
The organization of the 3rd International Staff Mobility Week is of particular importance for the development of international academic cooperation at Comrat State University. Throughout the week, participants and guests of the programme will deliver lectures and hold meetings with university students, share professional experience, participate in scientific and educational activities, and undertake traineeships in accordance with Erasmus+ academic mobility agreements.
Special attention during the international week is devoted to the preservation, study, and promotion of the Gagauz language as an important component of the cultural heritage of the Gagauz people. Such events contribute to strengthening international scientific relations, expanding intercultural dialogue, and developing new joint initiatives in the fields of education and science.
