Meeting with Akdeniz University Professors and New Prospects for Cooperation

On September 12, 2025, Comrat State University hosted a meeting between CSU Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serghei Zaharia, and professors from Akdeniz University (Republic of Türkiye) – Prof. Dr. Nedim Yüzbaşıoğlu and Lect. Metehan Yaykaşlı, who visited CSU within the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility program. The meeting was also attended by the Head of the Department of Economics of the Faculty of Economics, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Svetlana Curaxina, representatives of CSU’s International Relations and Project Activities Department, and Akdeniz University doctoral student Ümit Kazan, who is completing his academic mobility at CSU this week within the Erasmus+ Short Doctoral Mobility program.

During the discussions, the parties explored ways to expand the partnership between the universities and strengthen bilateral ties, the prospects of launching joint educational and research projects, especially in the field of tourism, organizing mutual internships and exchanges for “Tourism” students, and involving faculty members from both universities in joint research and conferences. Special attention was paid to the development of tourism as an important educational program for the region, sharing experience in curriculum design, and implementing practice-oriented learning.

A highlight of the meeting was the gift from Prof. Dr. Nedim Yüzbaşıoğlu – a traditional musical instrument, the kumancha, which will enrich the CSU Musical Instruments Museum’s collection and become a symbol of friendship and cultural exchange between our universities.

At the end of the meeting, a ceremonial certificate presentation was held for Akdeniz University doctoral student Ümit Kazan, who successfully completed his two-week mobility at CSU. CSU Rector Serghei Zaharia praised the guest’s active research work during his stay, highlighted the importance of knowledge exchange among young researchers, and expressed hope for further collaboration in scientific research and joint projects.

Comrat State University sincerely thanks the colleagues from Akdeniz University for their visit, constructive dialogue, and readiness to develop joint initiatives. We are confident that our cooperation will continue to grow, opening new opportunities for students and faculty on both sides.
