Modernization of Fixed Assets in the Student Dormitory of Comrat State University

The Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova has allocated 1 million MDL for the replacement of the heating system in the student dormitory of Comrat State University.

  • The project has been recognized as a priority;
  • The dormitory was built in the 1980s, and a major renovation of the heating system has never been carried out;
  • The heating system will be replaced;
  • Improved living conditions for students;
  • Significant resource savings;
  • The possibility to disconnect dormitory floors from the heating system if heating is not required.

“We plan to install a new heating system that will make each floor autonomous, so they can be turned off separately when needed,” said Serghei Zaharia, PhD, Associate Professor, Rector of Comrat State University.

He also added that the CSU Senate decided to attract additional funds from the revenues generated by dormitory accommodation fees and room rental — fixed assets of CSU.

In addition, several floors of the dormitory have already undergone renovation, with kitchens and shower rooms updated. The installation of solar panels in the academic building in 2021 has allowed annual savings of up to 70 000 MDL

The work is planned to begin in the summer of 2025 during the student vacation period, following legal procedures (public tender announcement). After approval by the Senate, Strategic Council, and Institutional Development Council of CSU, Comrat State University plans to allocate its own funds as contributions to fully complete the project.
