Healthy Lifestyle and Sports as Priorities of Youth Policy: Practice-Oriented Activity within the Uni Health Project

On April 30, 2025, as part of the implementation of the tasks of the Uni Health project, another practice-oriented session was held. According to the project’s conditions, experts promoting a healthy lifestyle are involved in meetings with students of the target group. Thus, representatives of the Main Directorate for Youth and Sports of the Gagauzia ATU — Head of the Department for Youth Policy Development, Yana Rusu, and Legal Affairs Specialist for the Regulation of Sports Schools, Aliona Kodjebash — were invited to the meeting with students. They conducted an informative session aimed at fostering a lasting interest among youth in sports, physical activity, and healthy lifestyles. During the open dialogue, participants addressed a variety of issues related to the current state and future prospects of youth policy in the region. They discussed the availability of sports infrastructure and the opportunities for personal development and self-realization through participation in sports, youth, and socially significant projects. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of sports as a resource for personal and professional development, strengthening teamwork, and preventing negative behaviors among youth. Students were introduced to the ongoing programs in the Gagauzia ATU that support youth and sports initiatives, the activities of sports schools, sections and clubs, as well as opportunities for cooperation with public administration bodies in the implementation of youth projects. The second part of the session was dedicated to the topic of healthy nutrition. In particular, students learned about the concept of a "metabolic plate." They performed various exercises aimed at developing a conscious approach to nutrition and gaining practical skills. Students were invited to assemble their own metabolic plate using basic food items and to justify their choices. At the end of the session, participants had the opportunity to have lunch with the contents of their plates, understanding the importance of balanced nutrition that includes proteins, carbohydrates, and fiber in proper proportions.
