On February 28, 2025, the faculty members of the Department of Gagauz Philology and History—Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, lecturer, and acting head of the department Galina Mutaf, as well as Doctor of Philological Sciences Vitali Sîrf—together with students of groups GR-24, GT-22, and NDP-24, took part in the Round Table dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the birth of the Gagauz writer, scholar, historian, and ethnographer Stepan Kuroglo. The event was also attended by educators, representatives of the scientific community of Gagauzia, and librarians. The Round Table was held at the Stepan Kuroglo Gymnasium in the municipality of Comrat. The Gagauz language and literature teacher V.A. Arakelyan, together with the gymnasium students, prepared a cultural program featuring poetry recitations of the writer’s works and performances of songs. The director of the Maria Marunevic Scientific Research Center, I.A. Konstantinova, awarded diplomas and prizes to the students who won prizes in the reading competition. During the Round Table, speakers highlighted Stapan Kuroglo’s contributions to the study of the history and culture of the Gagauz people, emphasizing the significance of his scientific works and activities in the education of future generations. Special attention was given to his role in preserving and developing the Gagauz language and culture. The event featured presentations on various aspects of Stepan Kuroglo’s scholarly activities, as well as recollections from his colleagues and students. In summarizing the Round Table’s proceedings, it was noted that Stepan Kuroglo’s scientific legacy holds great significance for the Gagauz people and requires further study.
