On October 5th, Moldova celebrates Teacher's Day — a day dedicated to educators and all those who contribute to shaping future generations. On this occasion, the Department of Foreign Languages, the staff, and the administration of Comrat State University remember the recently departed Evdokiya Bevza (22.07.1946 – 26.07.2025), senior lecturer and head of the Department of Foreign Languages (1991–2005). Evdokiya Petrovna was born in the village of Strymba, Bălți district, into a peasant family. In 1969, she graduated from Chișinău State University with a degree in French language and literature. She began her teaching career in schools in Drochia, then Comrat, and the village of Sadîc. From September 1991, she joined Comrat State University and was one of the founding members of the Department of Foreign Languages, along with Head of Department M.A. Tsyglyar (1991–1994), and lecturers A. Sdobnikova, E. Kurudimova, I. Tabanova, N. Nachoglo, E. Kroitor, N. Skripnik, among others. From 1994 to 2005, she led the department, demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and a deep commitment to education. She authored textbooks and teaching guides on Romanian and French language theory and practice. Students went on teaching internships to Chișinău (Moldo-Turkish Lyceum) and to Ceadîr-Lunga — where every detail from transport to accommodation was carefully coordinated, leaving students with lasting memories. She also initiated university events, including the first Valentine's Day celebration. In challenging times, she expanded international cooperation through embassies of France, Germany, and the USA. Under her leadership, the German Center was opened, and groundwork was laid for American and Greek Centers. Students and colleagues alike noted her kindness, tactfulness, and diplomatic approach. She cared deeply for students, motivating them each morning with her presence and was always ready to help. Thanks to her, several graduates remained at the department as teachers. She was a model of professional dress code — elegant, formal, and feminine. Her work was recognized with awards from the Ministry of Education of Moldova, the Gagauzia Department of Education, and Comrat State University. The memory of Evdokiya Bevza will forever live in the hearts of her students, colleagues, and the university community.
