As part of the National Reading Promotion Program "Lectura Central", 8th edition, and in collaboration with the National Library of the Republic of Moldova, a literary evening with the poet, translator, and Vice President of the Writers' Union of Moldova, Ivan Pilkin, was organized on March 27, 2025, titled "Poetry as a Mirror of Time: Self-Knowledge, Memory, and Responsibility." Ivan Pilkin, a philologist, studied German and English language and literature and taught German and world literature for many years at Moldova State University. He is the author of textbooks on world literature for lyceums. Since 2017, he has been the head of the Research and Development Department at the Municipal Library "B.P. Hasdeu" and is the editor of the journal "BiblioPolis." Ivan Pilkin spoke about his work and the work of famous poets, read poems, and presented his new book of poetry "și tu, Iohanan." With great interest, the audience learned about the creative process, the journey of self-discovery, the importance of preserving the memory of past events, and the ability to see something new and unique in the surrounding world. During the poetic meeting, it was mentioned that March 21 is World Poetry Day, the reason for its establishment, and how it is celebrated. Head librarian Janna Garcceva noted that the year 2025 in Moldova has been declared the Year of Mihai Eminescu, on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of the poet’s birth, and spoke about how Gagauz writers and poets translated his works. Students read Eminescu’s poems in Romanian and Gagauz. Young people in attendance asked questions and shared their thoughts. Student Kristina Kochan from group ZNO-21 spoke about her poetic work, read some of her poems, and gifted her poetry collection to Ivan Pilkin. The event was attended by teachers, students from groups ZNO-21, GR-24, RA-24, AN-23, AN-24, NDP-24, and librarians of the city.
