On May 5, 2026, during the second day of the III International Staff Mobility Week organized within the Erasmus+ Programme at Comrat State University, the academic panel “Panel on Hıdırellez in Classical Turkish Poetry” took place. The event was dedicated to the celebration of Hıdırellez — one of the most important traditional spring festivals of Turkic culture, symbolizing the awakening of nature, renewal, prosperity, and hope.
The panel brought together Dr. Eda Tok, Associate Professor from Düzce University, Dr. Deva Özder, Associate Professor from Karabük University, Dr. Kudret Safa Gümüş, Associate Professor from Aksaray University, as well as representatives of Comrat State University.
The following presentations were delivered during the panel:
• “Klasik Türk Şiirinde Hızır ve İlyas”
• “Tabiatın Uyanışını Divan Şairlerinden Dinlemek: Hıdırellez Bağlamında Divan Şiirinde Bahar Tasvirleri”
In their presentations, the participants examined the figures of Hızır and İlyas in classical Turkish literature, their symbolic significance in the cultural and spiritual traditions of the Turkic world, as well as the reflection of themes such as spring, rebirth, and harmony with nature in Divan poetry. Particular attention was paid to the artistic language and poetic imagery through which classical poets described the arrival of spring and the festive atmosphere of Hıdırellez.
Following the panel, the participants visited the Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Turkish Library in Comrat, where they became acquainted with the library’s activities, its collection of Turkish-language literature, educational and cultural initiatives, and projects aimed at preserving and promoting the Turkish language and culture in the region. The guests highly appreciated the library’s contribution to strengthening cultural and academic ties between Moldova and Türkiye. At the end of the visit, the participants exchanged views on prospects for further cooperation in the fields of education, culture, and academic mobility.
The panel served as a platform for the exchange of academic knowledge, cultural traditions, and experience, making a significant contribution to the promotion of Turkic cultural heritage and the expansion of Comrat State University’s international academic relations.
