On 23 September 2026, Comrat State University hosted the Follow-up seminar “Piloting Lesson Observations Based on the REFLECT Methodology: Results, Challenges and Next Steps”, organised within the framework of REFLECT Phase II – “Quality Learning through the Peer-to-Peer System in Moldova”. The event brought together inspectors from the education authorities of Gagauzia, Taraclia and Basarabeasca.
The seminar continued the training previously provided and focused on reflecting on the practical experience of applying REFLECT approaches in work with educational institutions. Particular attention was given to analysing the results of piloted lesson observations, exchanging professional experience, identifying emerging challenges and defining further steps for the use of observation, reflection and evidence-based feedback.
During the seminar, participants presented the results of the lesson observations they had conducted, discussed the specific features of applying the REFLECT methodology in different educational institutions, and analysed successful practices and challenging aspects. Special attention was paid to preparation for observation, recording factual evidence, organising reflective dialogue and providing developmental, non-evaluative feedback.
The interactive format of the seminar enabled participants to relate the key ideas of REFLECT to their own professional experience, exchange views and jointly identify areas requiring further methodological support. An important part of the meeting was devoted to discussing opportunities for sustaining and further implementing REFLECT elements at the level of educational institutions, education authorities and the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova.
At the end of the seminar, participants identified concrete follow-up actions and formulated professional conclusions related to the continued use of REFLECT approaches in lesson observation and teacher support.
The seminar was facilitated by the REFLECT project team from Comrat State University: Oxana Curteva, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, CSU Project Coordinator; Tatiana Velicova, Doctor, Associate Professor; Galina Mutaf, Doctor, Lecturer; Prascovia Nicolaeva, Lecturer; and Galina Mutcoglo, Lecturer.
The Follow-up seminar made it possible to move from the training stage to reflecting on the real experience of applying REFLECT and to identify further directions for professional cooperation and support for observation, reflection and developmental feedback practices in educational institutions.
