HANDS-ON WORKSHOP: DIGITAL METHODOLOGIES FOR TRACKING GRADUATES’ CAREER PATHS

On November 28, the partner universities of the project UPGRADE – Enhancing Graduates’ Employability Tracking in Moldova (Ref. No.: 101129166), funded by the EU Erasmus+ programme, took another step forward in the digitalization of graduate employability monitoring by holding a hands-on workshop dedicated to modern digital methodologies.

The event brought together representatives of partner universities, providing a space for discussions on contemporary tools for analysing the career trajectories of higher education graduates and for strengthening participants’ competencies in working with digital platforms.

The key objectives of the workshop included:

  • Establishing a unified methodology for the pilot implementation of the second stage of the graduate career monitoring survey.
  • Developing practical skills in using professional platforms for conducting complex surveys, including the design and management of multi-branch questionnaires.
  • Providing practical guidance on questionnaire design and optimisation, ensuring consistent, complete, and comparable data collection across institutions.

During the workshop, participants reviewed a range of digital platforms applicable for the development and administration of comprehensive questionnaire-based studies, including:

  • SurveyMonkey (Momentive) – a widely used and feature-rich platform offering flexible survey logic and advanced analytics;
  • QuestionPro – a tool well-suited for long-term studies involving repeated surveying, with extended branching logic and structured data export capabilities;
  • LimeSurvey – an open and highly flexible open-source platform commonly used in academic and research projects;
  • FreeOnlineSurveys – suitable for surveys with complex structures, multiple sections and advanced question-branching functionality;
  • SoGoSurvey (Sogolytics) – offers advanced branching logic and instruments for implementing large-scale research projects;
  • SmartSurvey – convenient for creating multi-component surveys, including cohort-based respondent management.

Particular attention was given to FreeOnlineSurveys, selected by the project coordinator —

ASEM (Academia de Studii Economice din Moldova). During the practical demonstration, participants explored the platform's functionality and its potential for designing and managing complex surveys.

The workshop strengthened participants’ competencies in digital methodologies for graduate employability tracking and provided valuable practical skills for conducting high-quality surveys within their institutions.
