6.2. GAGAUZ LANGUAGE (THEORY AND PRACTICE)
Presentations, February 11, 2025.

On February 11, 2025, the "Science. Production. Culture" International Scientific-Practical Conference was held in room 203 of the VI Section: Philology, 6.2. Gagauz Language (Theory and Practice). Scholars participated in the conference from Turkey, Ukraine, and the Republic of Moldova. The work of the section was guided by moderators: Ph.D. in Philology, university lecturer Ivanna Bancova, and Ph.D. in Philology, university lecturer Vitali Sîrf. For the VI PHILOLOGY section 6.2. GAGAUZ LANGUAGE (THEORY AND PRACTICE), 7 people registered on the KDU platform, and all were included in the program. During the section work, 7 reports on the themes of Gagauz linguistics and literature were presented, including 2 outstanding presentations by  Еlena Chiosea. and Evdokiya Soroçänu

  1. Olga Radova (Academic, Ph.D. in History, Istanbul University, Turkey) presented on the topic "GAVRIL GAYDARJI – A REMEMBERED CREATOR OF GAGAUZ LITERATURE AND LEXICOGRAPHER," discussing the significant contributions of Gagauz linguists to the field of Gagauz lexicography. The foundation of Gagauz lexicography was laid by G. Gaydarji, and it continues to advance at the present time in the Science Center;
  2. Elena Chiosea (Master of Educational Sciences, Theoretical Lyceum in the village of Cișmichioi, RM) delivered a comprehensive report on "THE IMAGE OF BOBA IN GAGAUZ WRITERS' CREATIONS." Relying on texts of Gagauz artistic literature, the speaker highlighted the spiritual values within the Gagauz family, emphasizing the significant role of the grandmother in educating children, preserving traditions, and establishing order in life;
  3. Galina Mutaf (Ph.D., university lecturer, USC, Comrat, RM) discussed "HUNGER AND REPRESSIONS IN VLAD KARAGANCI'S CREATIONS" based on the author's texts. An analysis of the prose "Bitter Wormwood" was conducted, where the author reveals the harsh realities of Gagauz life amid hunger and repression. Vlad Karaganci's reflections stemmed from his lived experiences, showcasing his thoughts, hardships, and hopes;
  4. Ivanna Bankova (Ph.D. in Philology, lecturer, Comrat State University, RM) addressed the topic "SYNTACTIC MEANS OF FORMING TERMS IN THE GAGAUZ LANGUAGE," highlighting certain aspects of the identified problem. It is known that various terms are used in the Gagauz language according to standard models, yet the construction of new terminological combinations and the study of their morphological components often raises questions regarding grammar and orthography. These aspects are essential for resolving issues related to the establishment of terminological combinations;
  5. Vitaliy Sırf (Ph.D. in Philology, university lecturer, Comrat State University, RM) presented on "THE IMAGE OF THE WONDERFUL BIRD IN THE FAIRY FOLKLORE OF BESSARABIAN GAGAUZES," exploring the various representations of the marvelous bird in Gagauz folk tales. The research demonstrates that this representation appears in multiple plot types, thereby establishing the significance of the marvelous bird in folklore. Among these representations, the eagle holds the most important cultural meaning;
  6. Evdokiya Soroçänu (Ph.D. in Philology, lecturer, Institute of Cultural Heritage, Chișinău, RM) introduced her etymological research and highlighted findings related to the terminology of wedding pastries in Gagauz dialects. The author's explanations and calculations are important and relevant for future preparations of an etymological dictionary;
  7. Artem Fedorinchik (Ph.D. in Philology, independent researcher, Ukraine) discussed "HOW THE GAGAUZ LANGUAGE CAN BENEFIT FROM THE GAGAUZ LANGUAGE CAMP," sharing insights from his extensive academic and practical experience, suggesting that involving Gagauz children in learning the Gagauz language could effectively promote its use. The author proposed a suitable approach – opening camps in the Gagauz language and engaging all children in Gagauz cultural activities, emphasizing the importance of program development, location, educators, and various other tasks.

All attendees expressed great interest in the presentations, raising many discussion questions and proposing further topics for exploration. Conference participants expressed gratitude to the administration of Comrat State University for hosting the International Scientific-Practical Conference and for choosing an appropriate format that allowed researchers from other countries to participate and share their knowledge with colleagues.

The section accomplished its work according to the program and made the following proposals:

  1. To organize further conferences and scientific research seminars to explore and promote the issues related to the Gagauz language and literature from various perspectives;
  2. To prepare and conduct master workshops for students and master's candidates, addressing the themes presented and introducing young researchers to established scholars.

We thank all participating colleagues for their engaging presentations, valuable information, and collaborative spirit.
