
On June 4, 2026, a professional meeting of librarians from Southern Moldova was held at the Cantemir District Public Library as part of the 2026 Regional Conferences entitled “Collection Development as a Foundation for Building a Strong Knowledge-Sharing Infrastructure.”
The event brought together representatives of public, university, and specialized libraries from the districts and municipalities of southern Moldova — Cahul, Cantemir, Cimișlia, Leova, Ștefan Vodă, Comrat, Ceadîr-Lunga, Vulcănești, and Taraclia — providing a valuable platform for professional dialogue, exchange of experience, and promotion of best practices in librarianship.
The Scientific Library of Comrat State University was represented by the Head Librarian, Janna Garceva, who was awarded a Certificate of Honor from the Government of the Republic of Moldova. Certificates of Honor from the Ministry of Education and Research and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova were also awarded to Chief Bibliographer N. Garchu and Chief Librarian A. Kösya.
The participation of colleagues and experts from the National Library of the Republic of Moldova and the “Ion Creangă” National Children’s Library enriched the discussions, fostering reflections on current challenges and development trends of libraries in the context of the information society’s transformation.
Participants discussed topics related to collection development and use, transformation of library services, institutional cooperation, and strengthening the role of libraries in supporting access to information and knowledge.
