An introductory session was held at the Scientific Library of Comrat State University for first-year students of the Faculty of National Culture enrolled in speciality 0114.9 “Languages and Literatures”, the “Gagauz and Romanian Language and Literature” study programme, academic group GR-26.
The event took place on 4 September 2026 as part of the university course “Pedagogy”, within the general field of professional training “Education Sciences”. The session, aimed at mastering the theoretical and methodological foundations of the discipline and becoming familiar with key information sources, was conducted by Maria IANIOGLO, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and Associate Professor. Its main objective was to develop an understanding of the diversity of bibliographic sources for the Pedagogy course, their purpose and their importance for the educational, research and professional activities of future teachers.
During the session, the students learned about the main types of pedagogical information sources: textbooks and teaching aids, monographs, scientific articles, collections of research papers, conference proceedings, dissertations and abstracts, regulatory documents, specialised scientific journals, electronic educational resources and the university library’s scientific databases.
At the beginning of the meeting, Head Librarian Anna CHIOSEA introduced the first-year students to the library’s opening hours and the rules for using the reading room. She described in detail the library’s information resources supporting research and education, including its book collection, periodicals and thematic collections.
Particular attention was paid to the library’s search system. The students learned how to use the electronic catalogue, the alphabetical card catalogue and the systematic catalogue. The librarian also presented the Scientific Library’s page on the official CSU website and briefly explained its structure, content and the search procedures used in the University’s Electronic Library.
