Scientific Library of Comrat State University

On 10 October, Lyudmila Vladimirovna Fedotova celebrates her birthday anniversary. She is a Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor and lecturer at Comrat State University, specialising in ecology and environmental protection, microbiology, soil erosion and biological diagnostics.

Lyudmila Vladimirovna was born on 10 October in Horlivka, Donetsk Region, Ukraine. Her family moved to Moldova in 1977. In 1983, she successfully graduated from the M. V. Frunze Agricultural Institute in Chișinău with a degree in Agronomy, after which she continued her postgraduate studies.

L. V. Fedotova began her professional career in the Department of Soil Science at the Agricultural University in Chișinău.

A new and important stage in her career began in 1997, when she moved to Comrat State University. Lyudmila Vladimirovna became Head of CSU’s Department of Crop Production, focusing her efforts on modernising teaching and strengthening the faculty’s research activities.

In 2005, L. V. Fedotova was appointed CSU’s Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations. In this role, she made a significant contribution to the university’s institutional development: she led the organisation of international scientific conferences, symposia and round tables, and actively developed the university’s project activities and scholarly publishing.

Research occupies an important place in L. V. Fedotova’s professional work. Her research interests include soil quality, sustainable agriculture and the adaptation of the agricultural sector to climate change.

Lyudmila Vladimirovna’s early work focused on analysing the climatic resources of the arid zone of southern Moldova, studying soil structure and improving the efficiency of agricultural production. In subsequent years, her research expanded to address the region’s food security. In 2025, L. V. Fedotova presented a comprehensive study of the impact of global climate change on soil-cover quality and crop yields in Gagauzia.

Her long-standing cooperation with the renowned scholar M. N. Guboglo became an important chapter in her academic biography. Their joint initiative to develop Russian–Moldovan scientific ties resulted in the publication of the ten-volume collection of scholarly works “Kursom razvivayushcheysya Moldovy” (On the Path of a Developing Moldova), for which Lyudmila Vladimirovna served as one of the compilers.

Lyudmila Vladimirovna actively supports CSU’s integration into the international academic and educational space. She successfully completed placements under the DAAD and Erasmus Mundus programmes in Germany and Greece, and coordinated the university’s participation in major European projects, including GAMCON and Ag-Lab.

Lyudmila Vladimirovna’s many years of conscientious work, outstanding professionalism and dedication to science have been recognised with prestigious awards — diplomas from the Government and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova, as well as diplomas from the Bashkan and the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia. In 2017, she was awarded the title of Honoured Educator of Gagauzia.

CSU’s Scientific Library has prepared a personal exhibition of the research, methodological and educational works of Doctor of Sciences and Associate Professor Lyudmila Fedotova.

We warmly congratulate Lyudmila Vladimirovna on her anniversary! We wish you good health, boundless energy, new scientific horizons and talented students!
