Every year at the beginning of the academic year, the Scientific Library of Comrat State University (CSU) organizes library and information sessions for first-year students of all faculties. These activities represent the first step toward the successful acquisition of academic knowledge and skills in working with scientific information.
Chief librarian Anna Chesea introduced students to the library’s working schedule, service rules, and information resources that support the scientific and educational process at the university: book collections, periodicals, and archives. Special attention was paid to the library’s search systems: Electronic Catalog, Alphabetical Card Catalog, and Systematic Catalog. Students were shown how to use reference and bibliographic tools, create correct reference lists for coursework, theses, and master’s papers in accordance with international and Moldovan bibliographic standards.
During the session with the students of the Faculty of Economics, Assoc. Prof. PhD Nadejda Ianioglo, spoke about the use of artificial intelligence (ChatGPT), the importance of critical thinking, independent academic writing, and the Anti-Plagiarism system.
Information was also presented about the Scientific Library webpage on CSU’s website, as well as the structure and content of the university’s Electronic Library and its search system.
Such introductory sessions help first-year students successfully integrate into the academic environment, forming a strong foundation for their future academic and research achievements.
