Since 2018, Comrat State University has been operating an electronic library on its website, which contains the university’s academic publications as well as a rich “Local History” section: https://library.kdu.md/kraevedenie.
According to statistical analysis, the “Local History” section is the most popular among users of the electronic resource.
This section includes digitized sources of information about Gagauzia, published both within the Autonomy and beyond its borders, in various languages. The collection is continuously expanded thanks to the efforts of university librarians as well as individuals interested in promoting Gagauz culture, history, ethnography, and language.
One of these contributors is Vitali Sırf, Doctor of Philology and lecturer at the Department of Gagauz Philology and History of the Faculty of National Culture at Comrat State University.
In December 2025, Vitaliy Ivanovich provided another rare Gagauz-language book for digitization — “Biäz arap: massalar” by Ion Creangă, published in 1974. The book entered his personal library from the well-known Gagauz studies scholar E. K. Koltsa. The dedication inscription indicates that the book was gifted to Elena Konstantinovna by the Moldovan poet K. I. Krețu, renowned for his translations of world literature classics as well as Gagauz folklore.
The book was published in Chișinău by the Lumina publishing house, with a print run of 2,000 copies.
The Scientific Library of Comrat State University expresses its sincere gratitude to Vitaliy Ivanovich for his ongoing cooperation, which contributes to enriching the library’s collection with rare editions.
