An informative seminar was held at the Law Faculty of Comrat State University for the students of the Law Faculty within the framework of cooperation with the Office of the People's Advocate of Republic of Moldova

Within the framework of legal education of the students of the Law Faculty of Comrat State University and the International Day for the Prevention of Racial Discrimination, on March 19, 2024, at the Law Faculty was held a meeting on the topic "Prevention of the use of hate speech".

The Head of the Representation of the Office of the People's Advocate in Comrat, Associate Professor, PhD Svetlana Mironova invited the students to discuss the awareness of the need to prevent hate speech both in the world and in the Republic of Moldova.

The training was attended by students of 1-4 courses of the Faculty of Law (more than 30 people).

The students were asked the question, how would they feel if someone showed hatred towards them or their loved ones just because you are the way you are? Does someone have the right to discriminate and humiliate us for the way we are? Shouldn't everyone be treated with respect?

In her presentation, Associate Professor, PhD, Svetlana Mironova analyzed together with the participants of the meeting the very concept of "hate speech" and the reasons for its use, as well as the consequences of using hate speech for the victim, for the community and society as a whole. Ways to counteract hate speech were analyzed. The students were shown videos on "Hate Speech" prepared by the Office of the People's Advocate and the Equality Council. The meeting was held in the format of free, interesting discussion of all the stated issues. All participants were interested in the issues raised.
