Comrat State University Joins the ACT4GREEN Project Consortium under ERASMUS+ CBHE – Regional (2026)

Comrat State University is implementing the principles of the green transition within the framework of the ERASMUS+ project “ACT4GREEN”. The ACT4GREEN project aims to strengthen the institutional capacity of higher education institutions in the Republic of Moldova in planning, implementing, and transparently monitoring the green transition.

The initiative is built upon the Whole Institution Approach, which engages university leadership, academic and administrative staff, students, and external stakeholders. The main goal of the project is to integrate sustainability principles into institutional decision-making processes and the daily operations of universities.

The project encompasses four key areas:

  1. Green Governance: Integrating environmental goals and sustainability principles into the decision-making system and institutional policy of the university;
  2. Green Education: Incorporating green competencies, environmental disciplines, and modern educational standards into the university’s academic process;
  3. Green Campus: Optimizing the operation of university infrastructure and implementing environmentally sustainable practices across the campus;
  4. Green Society: Fostering engagement with external stakeholders and promoting ecological culture within society

Key Activities of the ACT4GREEN Project:

  • Establishment of Green Offices: Opening specialized structural units at partner universities to coordinate eco-initiatives;
  • Comprehensive Assessment: Conducting a baseline assessment of institutional capacity across all four areas;
  • Strategic Planning: Developing tailored Green Transition Action Plans;
  • Capacity Building: Organizing training sessions and workshops for faculty, staff, and students;
  • Digitalization of Monitoring: Implementing an innovative digital monitoring and reporting system on the UniVerde platform.

The UniVerde platform provides evidence-based monitoring, tracks Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and generates annual reporting, enabling a shift from fragmented initiatives to systemic institutional practice

Main Expected Results:

  • Institutionalization of Procedures: Systematizing processes for monitoring, transparent reporting, and continuous improvement;
  • Open Educational Resources: Creating publicly accessible learning materials for the development of green skills;
  • Data Management: Implementing proven practices for collecting and analyzing sustainability data;
  • Replicable Model: Designing a universal green transition model that can be adopted by other higher education institutions.

The grant holder (lead coordinator) of the project is Sinop University (Republic of Türkiye). The ACT4GREEN project consortium also includes:

  • 2 universities from Romania (EU);
  • 3 universities from the Republic of Moldova;
  • The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova.

Through the integration of planning, monitoring, and continuous improvement cycles into academic structures, the ACT4GREEN project will help ensure long-term impact and sustainable growth for our University.
