Akif Hashimov is a PhD Candidate in Sociology at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, Poland.
His doctoral research focuses on the sociological analysis of Gagauz national identity, examining how national identity is shaped and maintained within Gagauz society.
As part of his field research in Gagauzia, Akif is conducting interviews with participants from different social groups, including Orthodox clergy, university teachers, students, and members of patriotic and cultural communities.
The interviews provide valuable insights into how Gagauz people understand their national identity, culture, language, religion, and sense of belonging.
