The Faculty of Law at Comrat State University held the legal quest “Elections in Gagauzia: 15 November”. The activity focused on electoral law, elections for the Bashkan of Gagauzia and elections for members of the People's Assembly of Gagauzia.
The organisers were Dr and Associate Professor Mironova S.A., master's degree holders Sary T.D. and Petrovich L.A. The quest aimed to consolidate students' knowledge of electoral law in the Republic of Moldova and the legal status of Gagauzia, while developing practical skills in applying electoral rules through examples from the 2026 election campaign.
Four student teams from groups YU-23, YU-25, YU-26 and YUPU-26 participated. They worked through eight stations, completing a task on the organisation and conduct of elections at each one.
Participants answered rapid-fire questions about the timeline of the 2026 election campaign, identified eligibility requirements for candidates to the People's Assembly and the position of Bashkan, and examined the formation of electoral commissions and election campaigning rules, distinguishing permitted conduct from violations.
Other tasks covered calculating turnout, counting votes and determining winners in single-member constituencies and Bashkan elections. Students also examined electoral disputes and took part in role-play debates as candidates. The teams actively discussed contentious situations and supported their positions with arguments.
Group YU-23 took first place, YU-25 finished second and YU-26 third. The YUPU-26 team finished fourth and received a participation diploma.
All participants received Comrat State University diplomas signed by Rector Zaharia S.K.
The organisers praised the students' preparation and interest in the topic. Such activities help future legal professionals put theory into practice, develop legal argumentation and teamwork, and promote informed participation in the electoral process.
