On November 21, 2025, two researchers from Türkiye — Fatih Akken, a PhD student at Trakya University, and Muhammed Hamza Akken, a Master’s student at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University — arrived in Gagauzia to conduct field research as part of their academic projects. Fatih Akken studies the policies of global power centers in the post–Cold War era, focusing on issues related to Gagauzia. Muhammed Hamza Akken researches the use of space in Turkish cinema and the influence of Eastern European cinematography on the development of Turkish cinema in the post-war period. On November 26, 2025, during their visit, the researchers met with the Rector of CSU, Assoc. Prof. PhD Serghei Zaharia, to discuss organizational matters and the next steps in carrying out their research in the region. The Rector noted: “We are pleased to support young researchers and strengthen international academic cooperation. Such visits contribute to the development of the academic environment and the exchange of knowledge.” The visit focused on collecting data and materials for their research, which may contribute to a deeper understanding of cultural and political processes in Gagauzia. This visit represents an important step toward strengthening academic ties and scientific cooperation between Gagauzia and Türkiye.
