
On November 27, 2025, Comrat State University hosted the official launch of the solar panel installation project implemented with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in the Republic of Moldova within the “Polska Pomoc” – Polish Development Program. The initiative aims to increase the university’s energy efficiency, introduce modern environmentally sustainable technologies, and optimize electricity costs. The project represents an important step toward the development of “green” infrastructure both at CSU and in the region. As part of the project, a 30 kW solar power station was installed on the university campus, providing part of the energy supply to academic buildings and helping reduce the university’s carbon footprint. The initiative also aims to enhance environmental awareness among students and the population of Gagauzia regarding renewable energy, as well as to strengthen international cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland. The Rector of CSU, Assoc., prof. PhD Serghei Zaharia, highlighted the significance of the project for the university, emphasizing its contribution to sustainable development and modernization of the material and technical base of CSU. The university leadership expressed gratitude to the Polish side for its support and strengthening of partnership relations. As a sign of appreciation for his contribution to the implementation of the project, the Rector presented a Letter of Gratitude to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Tomasz Kobzdej, stressing the importance of further expanding cooperation. Participants noted that the project would contribute to the expansion of international cooperation as well as the promotion of environmentally oriented initiatives in the autonomy.

Tomasz Kobzdej emphasized the importance of the project for CSU and the region, noting that the installation of solar panels reflects Poland’s commitment to supporting sustainable development, ecological transformation, and strengthening international partnerships. He also highlighted that the project creates conditions for shaping students’ environmentally responsible mindset and integrating modern renewable energy technologies into the educational process. The administration and academic staff of CSU expressed their gratitude to the partners of the ecological project “Solar Energy: Sustainable Campus” — the Government of the Republic of Poland, the Polska Pomoc Foundation, and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in the Republic of Moldova — for their support and contribution to the implementation of the initiative, and emphasized their confidence in the further development of joint educational and cultural projects that strengthen international cooperation and promote innovative values.
