National Conference on the Development of Domestic and Sustainable Tourism

On 26 May 2026, the Technical University of Moldova hosted the National Conference on the Development of Domestic Tourism and the International Forum on Tourism Skills in the context of the Pact for Skills. The event was organized by the National Tourism Platform, APIT, the Institute of Tourism and the Technical University of Moldova.

The event brought together representatives of public institutions, international organizations, educational institutions, the tourism business sector, HoReCa and the professional community to discuss prospects for the development of domestic and sustainable tourism, increasing the competitiveness of the sector and improving the system of professional training.

Within the panel “Professional Standards, Quality and Education in European Tourism”, Prof. Dr. habil. Alla Levitskaia, professor at Comrat State University and Director of the Regional Economic Development Institute, delivered a presentation. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the education sector and the tourism business, developing practice-oriented learning, internships, joint educational initiatives and modern competencies in the field of sustainable tourism. She also presented a new initiative that brings together three universities from Moldova and three universities from Georgia to create a network of Green Tourism Hubs within the Erasmus+ ENRICHER Hub project.

Special attention during the conference was paid to the quality of tourism services, digitalization, the development of domestic tourism routes, professional skills and European approaches to the development of the tourism sector.

The conference became an important platform for professional dialogue, exchange of experience and the development of partnerships between universities, businesses and organizations involved in the development of tourism in the Republic of Moldova.
