The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, held a meeting with students and faculty of Comrat State University on April 10, 2024, to discuss the advantages of European integration and the projects implemented by the Government of the Republic of Moldova in the region. "Over the past two years, we have made many efforts to maintain peace and tranquility in our country, and we still need unity. Those who try to sow discord and undermine autonomy and the country have only one goal - to return corrupt groups to power. Our goal is to maintain peace, continue to fight corruption, and together build better living conditions for all Moldovan citizens, regardless of where they live and what language they speak," wrote the president. The head of state provided examples of investments by central authorities in the settlements of Gagauzia and the implementation of important projects for the autonomy residents. "We have provided clear evidence that the central authorities invest in the settlements of the Gagauz and implement important projects for the autonomy residents. Road repairs, construction of water and sewerage systems, repair of cultural centers, kindergartens, schools, and implementation of energy efficiency projects are financed from the state budget and funds from European funds and other development partners. In addition, all taxes collected in the Gagauzia remain in the autonomy budget, unlike other settlements in the country, which transfer a part of the collected taxes to the state budget," emphasized Maia Sandu. Furthermore, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, discussed the advantages of European integration. The president also urged the youth of the region to participate in greening activities. "In Gagauzia, only 6% of the land is covered by forests. We need to take better care of our land," stated the head of state. Students and faculty of Comrat State University actively asked questions that interested them.
