The National Research and Educational Network of the Republic of Moldova (RENAM) continues to expand the international eduroam service in the country's higher education institutions. Comrat State University now provides secure and convenient internet access in all academic premises and the dormitory, which contributes to the creation of a modern academic space integrated into the international educational community.
The main university building was connected to the eduroam service in 2021, and the connection of the university dormitory was completed in January 2025. Nineteen access points have been installed in the academic building, and 21 points in the dormitory. RENAM specialists developed and configured the network to ensure optimal coverage and stable equipment operation.
Improvement of Internet Speed and Quality
An important result of the network implementation and optimization has been the significant increase in internet connection speed at the university — up to 130 Mbps via Wi-Fi and up to 860 Mbps via the wired network. This has qualitatively improved network performance for the entire academic community.
-
Increased Efficiency: Faculty and students can now instantly download voluminous scientific materials, video lectures, and large data sets, which has accelerated study and research processes.
-
Seamless Operation: The improved network capacity ensures stable participation in online conferences and webinars, as well as comfortable collaboration on projects without delays.
-
New Level of Digital Comfort: The increased speed and stability of the network have enabled full Wi-Fi coverage, which facilitates the use of the Moodle educational platform, participation in online surveys, and prompt completion of academic assignments.
Sustainable Growth and International Connectivity
eduroam (education roaming) is an international, secure, and free Wi-Fi service created for the scientific and educational community. It allows students, faculty, and researchers from participating institutions to connect to the internet both at their own university and at other educational institutions worldwide, using the same credentials.
The use of the eduroam service at CSU demonstrates sustainable growth. The number of successful authorizations for CSU users (in other institutions in Moldova and abroad) increased from 4,696 in 2021 to 16,676 in 2023, reaching 56,307 in 2024.
The university notes that the benefits of connecting to the RENAM network became apparent immediately after the service's introduction. Faculty and students highly value the ability to use safe and stable internet in both academic buildings and the dormitory.
The eduroam service provides CSU users with the opportunity for free internet connection at more than 10,000 access points in over 100 countries worldwide. Whether participating in Erasmus+ academic mobility programs, international conferences, or joint projects, CSU students and faculty can use secure, high-speed, and stable internet anywhere in the world.
