“100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE I TURKOLOGICAL CONGRESS: LANGUAGE PROBLEMS”

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the International Scientific Conference entitled “100th Anniversary of the I Turkological Congress: Language Problems”, which will be held at Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University on 14–15 May 2026.
In the context of globalization, the preservation of the Azerbaijani language as the state language, language and alphabet problems in Turkic-speaking countries, contemporary challenges in mother tongue instruction, matters of correct writing and reading, as well as current problems in the development of linguistics in the country and their broader regional and global significance constitute the primary objectives of the conference.
Distinguished scholars and researchers from across the Turkic world will participate in the conference.
Main Thematic Areas of the Conference:
- Linguistics and Terminology
– Theoretical linguistics and foundations of terminology: methods of creating new terms;
– Standardization and unification: adaptation of international terminology into national languages; development of common Turkic terminology in the fields of economics, technology, and artificial intelligence;
– Restoration of archaisms and dialectology: preservation of common roots of Turkic languages in the modern era.
- Literature and Common Cultural Heritage
– The concept of a common Turkic literature: from medieval heritage to contemporary literary relations;
– Turkic epic thought: the role of “Book of Dede Korkut” and other epics in the unity of Turkic peoples;
– Contemporary literary process: problems of mutual translation and promotion of the literatures of Turkic-speaking countries.
- History and Ethnography
– Victims of repression of the First Turkological Congress: the fate of its organizers and participants;
– The history of integration of Turkic peoples: the path of development from the Huns to the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), succession and the future.
– Problems of ethnogenesis: the origin of Turkic peoples in the light of genetic and historical research.
- Education and Digital Turkology
– Digital Humanities in Turkology: development of corpora of Turkic languages and electronic dictionaries;
– Unification of textbooks: methodological basis for common history and literature textbooks for schools of the Turkic world;
– Artificial intelligence and Turkic languages: adaptation of Turkic languages to speech technologies.

Requirements for the Submission of Conference Materials:
Paper size A4, font size 12 pt, line spacing 1.15, paragraph indentation 1.0 cm, margins 2.0 cm on all sides. The text should be typed continuously without manual line breaks. The abstract must not exceed 250–300 words.
The title of the abstract should be centered, written in CAPITAL LETTERS and in bold type.
