
Students, master’s students, and PhD students of Comrat State University are invited on October 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM, to room 401 (4th floor, Faculty of Law, CSU academic building, address: str. Galațana, 17, mun. Comrat, Republic of Moldova) for the public lecture dedicated to stimulating civic activism on the topic: “Give Me Future: Innovations in Civic Activism from Around the Region.” The presentation will be in English with consecutive interpretation into Russian. The public lecture will be conducted by American Professor Douglas Arellanes. Professor Douglas Arellanes is a technologist, broadcaster, and software developer focused on innovative technological solutions for journalism. He has been a member of the board of the Prague Civil Society Centre for 10 years, from its founding until July 2024, advising on technology and media issues. He is a co-founder of the Czech non-profit institute Sourcefabric and has received several awards for his technological solutions for news organizations in developing countries, leading several significant projects in journalism innovation. Professor Douglas Arellanes also hosts programs on Radio 1 91.9FM in Prague (Czech Republic). He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Book Arts from the College of Creative Studies at the University of California (Santa Barbara, USA). The public lecture of the visiting Professor is organized with the direct support of the U.S. Embassy in the Republic of Moldova.
