The Romanian Language Lectureship Resumes in Comrat Municipality Under the Aegis of "Eminescu, Veșnic Contemporan!"

On January 30, 2025, the Romanian Language Lectureship was resumed at Comrat State University. This renewal was made possible with the support of the Ministry of Education of Romania, the Romanian Language Institute in Bucharest (Romania), the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova, the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Moldova, and Comrat State University. The Rector of Comrat State University (CSU), Dr. Assoc. Prof. Sergei Zaharia addressed the guests and attendees with a welcoming speech. He emphasized: "The resumption of the Romanian Language Lectureship within CSU will be a major impetus for the development of intercultural dialogue and the strengthening of educational ties in the region. This will not only expand the educational opportunities of our students and teachers, but also serve as an important bridge between different cultures, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation at the European level." Mr. Adrian Dupu, State Secretary of the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova under the Government of Romania, who participated in the event at CSU, also shared his thoughts, stating: "This is yet another example of Romania's commitment to supporting education and preserving Romanian culture and language in the Republic of Moldova." Dr. Assoc. Prof. Gina Necula, a representative of the Romanian Language Institute in Bucharest, also highlighted that the renewal of this mission is an important step in strengthening cultural and educational ties between Romania and the Autonomous Territorial Unit (ATU) of Gagauzia, Republic of Moldova. The event was also attended by distinguished guests who gave speeches: His Excellency, Mr. Ovidiu-Viorel Neftănăilă, First Secretary of the Romanian Embassy in the Republic of Moldova; His Excellency, Mr. Gabriel Nicola, General Consul of Romania in Cahul, Republic of Moldova; His Excellency, Mr. Adnan Hayal, General Consul of the Republic of Turkey in Comrat, Republic of Moldova; Dr. Habil., Univ. Lecturer Ivan Duminică, Head of the Interethnic Relations Policy Service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Moldova; Mr. Narcis Ionuț Afrăsinei, Deputy Director of the Institute "Romanian Heritage Culture Mihai Eminescu" in Chișinău; Dr. Habil., Univ. Prof., Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Emil Cheban, Chairman of the Council of Rectors of the Republic of Moldova, Rector of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemițanu" of the Republic of Moldova; Dr. Habil., Assoc. Prof. Sergiu Cornea, Rector of Cahul State University named after B. P. Hasdeu; Dr. Assoc. Prof. Lucia Cepraga, Vice-Rector of the University of Pedagogy and Psychology "Ion Creangă" from Chișinău; Dr. Assoc. Prof. Natalia Christeva, Head of the Main Directorate of Education of ATU Gagauzia; Mr. Sergey Anastasov, Mayor of Comrat Municipality. During the event, the importance of the Romanian language as part of the cultural heritage of the Republic of Moldova and the necessity of its preservation within educational institutions in the multicultural region of ATU Gagauzia were also emphasized. All speakers expressed hope for the further development and support of this initiative, as well as for expanding opportunities for students to study not only the language but also the culture, history, and traditions of Romania. Concluding the event, CSU Rector, Dr. Assoc. Prof. Sergei Zaharia expressed gratitude to all participants and partners for their support and cooperation.
