On June 2, 2025, the administration of Comrat State University (CSU) held a meeting with representatives of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Mr. Pierre Alejandro Chacón (Associate Inter-Agency Coordination Officer at United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), Mr. Kyrylo Prykhodko (UN Inter Agency Coordination Associate, UNHCR) and Mr. Dumitru Cebac (Public Association "Center for Legal Support of Lawyers"). During the meeting, CSU Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr., Serghei Zaharia, presented the university's educational opportunities, infrastructure, ongoing projects in the field of social integration, as well as the university’s efforts to support vulnerable groups, including forcibly displaced persons. The discussion also addressed prospects for cooperation between the university, UNHCR, and civil society. Special attention was given to the possibility of:
- organizing joint educational, research, and informational activities;
- involving students in volunteer activities and projects for legal support of refugees and displaced persons;
- developing joint programs for social integration and human rights protection;
- integrating CSU into the global network of universities that support UNHCR’s mission.
As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in education, legal assistance, and social integration of people affected by forced displacement, and to implement joint initiatives at CSU in partnership with UNHCR and the Public Association "Center for Legal Support of Lawyers"
