Dr. Associate Prof. Serghei Zaharia, Rector of the Comrat State University https://kdu.md/ and Steve Young, CMI Country Manager (Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation) https://cmi.fi/ signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the educational program - second edition of the Autumn Academy "Autonomy and decentralized governance" - for mid-level professionals, researchers and students studying autonomy issues, organized within the project "Supporting Inclusive Dialogue and Capacity Building for Better Functioning of the Gagauz Autonomy in Moldova" (2019-2021) with the support of Sweden.
The program will be delivered by local experts from Moldova State University (http://usm.md) and Comrat State University, as well as international experts from Eurac Research in Italy, leaders in the field of comparative federalism, autonomy issues and minority rights (www.eurac.edu and http://www.eurac.edu).
#Gagauzia Dialogue
The Academy offers the participants the opportunity to learn about international best practices and mechanisms for autonomy governance and to explore potential options for their application to centre-autonomy relations. The Academy is an immersive program, comprising academic lectures and group work with opportunities for networking between participants to develop a new community of experts in decentralization and autonomy issues.
