
The Agency for Interethnic Relations (ARI) of the Republic of Moldova announces the launch of the program "Scholarships for Merit for Students of Romani Ethnicity in Secondary, Vocational-Technical, and Higher Education" for the 2024-2025 academic year. This initiative is organized in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova to motivate Romani children and adolescents to successfully continue their studies. Candidates aged 16 to 25 who do not receive scholarships from the state budget are eligible to apply for merit scholarships. For the 2024-2025 academic year, merit scholarships of 1,200 lei per month will be awarded to students of Romani ethnicity at the following educational levels:
- Secondary education – 60 scholarships;
- Vocational secondary education – 15 scholarships;
- Post-secondary vocational education – 20 scholarships;
- Higher education – 25 scholarships

The deadline for submitting documents is October 4, 2024, by 5:00 PM
To participate in the competition, candidates must provide a dossier that includes:
- A motivation letter;
- An application for participation in the competition;
- A copy of the identity card;
- Confirmation from the educational institution that the candidate is a student and does not receive a scholarship from the state budget;
- Proof of Romani ethnicity, confirmed by the candidate's birth certificate/a birth certificate of one of the parents/a recommendation letter from local authorities/a recommendation letter from a community mediator/a recommendation letter from a Romani ethnocultural organization accredited by the Agency for Interethnic Relations of the Republic of Moldova;
- Consent for the processing of personal data
Merit scholarship recipients will be selected based on the following criteria:
- Average grade;
- Motivation letters;
- Recommendation letters
Documents for participation in the competition must be submitted in person or sent by mail to the following address: Agency for Interethnic Relations, Alexei Mateevich Street 109/1, Chișinău, Republic of Moldova, MD-2009, with the note "Competition for Merit Scholarships for Students of Romani Ethnicity"
- Documents sent in electronic format (via email) must subsequently be submitted in original form.
- Incomplete documents or those submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Documents will not be returned. The results of the competition are final and not subject to appeal.
