
The Rector of Comrat State University (CSU), Assoc. prof., Dr. Serghei Zaharia, met with Ms. Sarah Chesters, Director of the Peace Corps (USA) in the Republic of Moldova, Ms. Anna Tsybulyak, Manager of the Peace Corps English Teaching Program, and Ms. Lyubov Kitaev, Public Relations Assistant of the Peace Corps. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Habil., University Lecturer Ivan Duminica, and Head of the "Interethnic Relations Policy" Service at the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova. During the meeting, the possibility of involving volunteers from the USA in teaching English at CSU was discussed. The parties exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation in the field of language education, emphasizing the importance of expanding access for students and faculty to modern methods of learning English. The representatives of the Peace Corps expressed their willingness to consider sending volunteers to CSU, who would not only conduct classes but also contribute to the development of a language-rich environment within the academic community. Additionally, organizational issues were discussed, including the adaptation of volunteers, their integration into the educational process, and possible formats of their work depending on the university’s needs. The Rector of CSU, Assoc. prof., Dr. Serghei Zaharia noted that the involvement of native English speakers would be a significant contribution to the university’s international cooperation and would provide students with unique opportunities to improve their language skills. At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties expressed mutual interest in further collaboration and outlined the initial steps for implementing joint initiatives.
