
On February 24, 2026, the Rector of Izmail State University of Humanities (Ukraine) paid an official visit to Comrat State University (CSU). The main purpose of the visit was the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two higher education institutions and the discussion of joint initiatives in the fields of education and culture.
During the meeting, the Rector of CSU, Doctor, Associate Professor Serghei Zaharia and the Rector of the Izmail University, Doctor, Professor Yaroslav Kichuk, discussed several important issues concerning academic mobility, the development of joint projects, and support for the Gagauz community. One of the key topics was the preservation of the Gagauz language, its teaching, and its promotion among students in both countries. The possibility of creating Gagauz language courses for Ukrainian students, as well as organizing summer schools with student exchange programs, was discussed in order to deepen knowledge and broaden cultural horizons.
The parties emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the Gagauz communities of Moldova and Ukraine, as well as the need to preserve and develop the Gagauz language as an essential element of cultural identity. CSU expressed its readiness to support the Izmail University in implementing educational programs and creating conditions for studying in the native language.
In addition, the rectors discussed further steps to enhance scientific and cultural exchange, including the possibility of joint research projects, conferences, and seminars. The signing of the agreement will open new horizons for cooperation, providing students and academic staff from both institutions with unique opportunities for academic growth and professional development.
This agreement represents an important step in the development of interuniversity partnership and in supporting the Gagauz community both in Moldova and Ukraine, strengthening ties between neighboring countries and reinforcing the cultural unity of the two peoples.
