
On November 27, 2025, Comrat State University hosted the official opening of the Center for Bulgarian Language and Culture. The new center was established with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Republic of Moldova and the Association for the Development of the Bulgarian Community in Moldova. The opening of the Center represents an important step in strengthening cultural ties and expanding opportunities for studying the Bulgarian language, history, and traditions in Gagauzia. During the event, the main directions of the Center’s activity, educational programs, and prospects for cooperation with Bulgarian partners were presented. The Rector of CSU, Assoc., prof. PhD Serghei Zaharia, emphasized the significance of this project for the university and the region, noting that the establishment of the Center for Bulgarian Language and Culture opens new horizons for educational and cultural cooperation. “We are pleased to strengthen our partnership and grateful to the Bulgarian side for their support and trust,” the Rector stated. The Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Moldova, Mrs. Maya Dobreva, speaking at the opening, highlighted the importance of developing the Bulgarian language and culture in Gagauzia and noted that the creation of the Center is a significant contribution to strengthening cultural ties. She emphasized that Comrat State University’s commitment to developing Bulgarian studies is highly valued, and expressed confidence that the Center will become a platform for dialogue, education, and new joint initiatives.

Participants expressed confidence that the Center will become a platform for joint projects, scientific initiatives, and cultural programs that will promote intercultural dialogue and strengthen friendly relations between peoples.
