On February 27, 2025 lecturers and students of Comrat State University had a wonderful opportunity to be a part of an interesting workshop entitled “An Introduction to Digital Storytelling”. This event had been led by Rebecca Stuch, a Ph.D. candidate in “Innovation in Global Development” at Arizona State University. As a Fulbright Award recipient, she is in Moldova conducting research on how Moldovan youths experience Moldovan Identity through Digital Storytelling. The workshop participants watched and discussed several digital stories and learned how to express themselves in a creative way through the digital medium.
The event was opened by Oxana Curteva, PhD, Associate Professor, Dean of the Faculty of National Culture. Prascovia Nicolaeva, Interim Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, also gave a welcoming speech. Both were happy about the event and wished everyone a productive work and pleasant atmosphere during the workshop.
Mrs. Stuch started her workshop with introducing herself: her birth place, her studying, the universities she had studied at and the states she had lived in. Later, she asked about participants’ mood and began telling about the topic of the workshop entitled “An Introduction to Digital Storytelling”. Mrs. Stuch spoke about the history of storytelling, first. Secondly, she informed the listeners about the digital storytelling as a phenomenon of modern world, its importance, effectiveness and ways of its realizing. Thirdly, she pointed out to the fact that digital storytelling helps greatly in learning a language. In the end of the workshop, the participants watched a digital story; they had to observe some useful details and then do post-watching activities. The atmosphere was pleasant during the workshop; all participants took an active role in the activities.
